JULY 9th MEETING The meeting came to order with President Foster leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance.   It was reported that club member James Foster was killed in an accident on I-74.  Our hearts and prayers go out to his wife Ruth and their family. Rodney Suttle reported on the Arts In The Park Car Show.  There were 112 cars registered and we had good weather.  He thanked the membership for all their help with this show.  Rodney was then appointed to head this up again for next year.  Thanks, Rodney for all your hard work on this event! President Myron Foster told about his illness and that tests were scheduled and more would be known after the tests.  He said he was not planning to resign from his position but hoped to work appointments around meetings and car shows.  He was then applauded by the members. Publications Officer, Theolinda Foster asked to resign from her position due to Myron’s illness.  The members at the meeting encouraged her not to resign but said they would be willing to work with her in the upcoming months as needed.  It was also decided that The Moto-Meet-er could be sent bi-monthly.  Pat Roark had trophies for the members to choose from for the club’s upcoming 47th Annual Car Show.  Pearl Lava was the overwhelming choice of the club members in attendance.  The antique division will award trophies to the top three in each class as in the past.  The Open Show will have “Top 20” voted on by the participants.  Club members can pre-register for $8.00 if paid no later than the September meeting.  The registration fee will be $10.00 on the day of the show.  We still need sponsors for this show.  Additional Sponsorship sheets are attached.  Thank you in advance for your help.   August 13th Meeting The meeting came to order with 1st Vice-President Mike Klepp leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance in the absence of President Foster.  President Foster has started treatments at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis. Our hearts and prayers go out to family and friends of Doris Curley.  Doris passed away on July 12th, 2009.  Her family has been active in the IAAC for many years. The Hawthorn Inn has asked the club to come back this year and put cars on display.  Last year a few of the members also gave rides to the residents in their cars.  The date for this is September 12th from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM.  A free lunch will be provided.    Welcome to new member Sonny Denhart.  He has a 1981 Pontiac Trans-Am T-Top Turbo Charged V-8.  It is 1 of 457 made and it is a NASCAR Pace Car.  He drove his car  to the meeting for the members to enjoy.  Welcome Sonny! Bill Massey told about his trip out west and seeing the same purple 1931 Model A Sedan three times as they were traveling west to California.  The last time as they were headed to the ocean at Moro Beach and the Model A was headed back east from the beach.  That is not something that happens everyday. Wally Deck told about his trip to New York and winning “Best of Show” at the 7th Division of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America with he and Mary’s 1928 Coupe.  Congratulations to Wally and Mary!  It was decided that the club would furnish the hot dogs and buns this year for the Annual Weiner Roast.  It will be held at Forest Glen Preserve, Georgetown, IL, October 17th at 5:30 PM.  Bring a covered dish and your own table service.  Condiments and drinks will be provided as in the past.  Please RSVP to Keith and Margaret Brown by October 14th at 217-427-5522 or kpmabrown@sbcglobal.net . ****************************UPDATE****************************President Foster is reported to be doing well after surgery and will be recovering at home.  Cards and calls may be sent to him there.  Upcoming events & shows: * August 28, 2009 - Hooters Car Show and Cruise-In, 1706 S. April 2009  MOTO MEET-ER

President Foster opened the April 12th meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance; the meeting was short and mostly pertaining to the upcoming beef and noodle dinner and the mall display of member’s vehicles May 15, 16 & 17.

Please contact Don Longer 217 446-5328 or Mike Klepp 217 354-4534 to register. Members they also need volunteers to come for 2-3 hour car sitting shifts during the hours the mall is open.

As of today there are 20 vehicles registered so plenty of spaces are available. Even if you aren’t taking a vehicle, your help watching those on display will be very much appreciated.

Don’t forget that the May14th meeting will be held at 8 p.m. in the Village Mall. Don Longer has a room set up for us, after the meeting and the mall closes, the cars will be brought in and placed.

I waited to send out the MOTO MEET-ER until after the noodle supper to report the huge success it was once again. We had members from the Ben Hur Car Club, Illini Collector Car Club, Illinois Mustang, Model T Club, and the Junk Yard Dogs representing their clubs. I hope I have not missed any others and if I have please forgive me, let me know , I will correct and include you in next months newsletter. Thanks to you all for driving the distance to share some quality time and food with us! Those working in the kitchen deserve a round of applause; that would be Mary & Wally Deck, Gerald & Shirley Quick, Ed & Dora Jameson and their granddaughter and Myron Foster. Keith and Margaret Brown were on the door selling tickets and getting everyone registered. They were kept very busy! There were 85 registered and about 20 that didn’t come back after placing their food and packages on the tables. Thanks to you all for a job well done!

A huge thank you goes out to Wally & Mary Deck for their hard work, I can testify to the work that goes into getting those noodles on your plate because last week Mary made the noodles and then Shirley Quick, Margaret Brown, myself and Mary rolled out and with the help of Wally and Ed Jameson cut them (Wally & Ed did most of the cutting ;o). Believe me; you have never seen so many noodles! After cleaning up Mary and Wally served a terrific lunch, amid our laughing and talking which we all enjoyed and appreciated very much!

Foster and 1st Vice President Mike Klepp. The two main topics of the evening were the member’s vehicle display at the mall and opening the Ellsworth Park show to include vehicles other than stock.Don Longer is the chairman for the Members Mall Display which will be on the 15, 16 & 17 th. of May. The cars are to be at the mall at Garfield’s restaurant entrance Thurs. the 14th at 7:30 pm IL. time. Since that is the same night as our regular meeting Don has arranged to have a room available for the IAAC to hold the meeting there in the mall. Please, if you can help chair this display or help Don in any way, contact him at 217-446-5328. Don has the sign up sheets for registering your vehicle and car sitting, please contact him and let him know what you will be displaying and the hours you can stay with the vehicles. It takes us all to have a successful display so please, contact Don and let him know the hours and days you can be there. The officers took a vote to look into opening up the Fall car show at Ellsworth Park to customs, rods and bikes. They will be in a separate part of the show grounds and will have their own participant voting for their top 10 awards. At the March 12th IAAC meeting this was discussed and with a 100% vote of those attending approved this venture. The antique car show will remain the same as in the past. As Pat said, we have known this was going to have to come to pass and it may even stimulate the growth of our club. I will pass along all information as I get it .. We would like to extend our profound thank you to Buds Electronics for all their help and sponsorship of the Art on Wheels show for the past several years. Due to the economy they reluctantly pulled that sponsorship this year. We are so fortunate that Danville Bumper to Bumper (better known as Pete’s Auto Supplies) stepped in and will be the new sponsor of this terrific show!Date for the show is June 27th, , the rest of the information concerning the show  will be in next months (April) MOTO MEET-ER. It is that time of the year, car clubs will be putting out their show calendars so please pass on the information, where, cost, time, etc. to me and I will include them in the newsletter.                            February 2009 IAAC MOTO MEET-ER

Please remit your 2009 membership dues to Rod Suttle, 11 E. Raymond, Danville, IL. 61832Dues are still only $15.00. I will be sending out a new roster of membership with the April membership newsletter. We had thirty three members turn out at Charlotte’s Restaurant for our Valentines Dinner, before ordering our meals President Foster led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag.Keith Brown handed each lady present a ticket for a drawing. Carolyn Massey, Donna Longer and Jill Suttle each had the winning numbers for a bouquet of flowers and Paula Broderick won a box of chocolates. I believe everyone had a good time, ordered what they wanted, enjoyed the food and scrumptious desserts!!Ralph Cummings was able to come to the dinner and he was a welcome sight!!!!We have missed you Ralph and it was so good to see you. Stay wellDon Longer set the Mall Display show for May 15, 16 and 17. President Foster asked if there was anyone present that would be chairman or co-chairman for the event. He also said that we are going to need a lot of car-sitters for 3 hr. shifts during all the mall hours. There were no volunteers for either. There will be a sign up sheet at the next meeting, May will be here fast enough so we need to be prepared. It is only fair that if you are going to display your car that you should be able to take a car-sitting shift. It was announced that noodles will be made at Mary and Wally Decks home the 14th of April. Ladies, Mary needs volunteers to help with the noodle cutting. Last year there were three of us plus Mary and Wally, we could sure use a couple more sets of hands. It would take less time and be a lot easier for all .PLEASE call Mary Deck at 217 260-0300 and volunteer to help even if it is only for a couple hours. You need to be at Mary’s house at 501 E. North St., Ridge Farm, IL. 9am IL time. If you are unfamiliar with the area, call ahead. Thanks! The Beef and Noodle Supper will be on April 18, 2009 and will start at 6:30 P.M.  Remember to bring a side dish or dessert and your own tableware and silverware. The club will provide the beef and noodles, green beans, mashed potatoes, bread and butter, coffee and iced tea. The location of the supper is The Ward Park Community Building, Ridge Farm, IL. You all know that Mary’s noodles are some of the best in the Midwest so make sure you mark your calendar for the date and don’t forget to bring a white elephant for the give a way.

Larry Coon gave me a letter he had received from Dorothy Conover. Dorothy spent Christmas in the hospital, she had a triple heart by-pass.. According to her letter she is on her way to recovery even though it will take some time. We all wish you the very best Dorothy and pray for a full recovery. Dorothy added at the end of her letter; “I send my best regards to the car club”. Thanks Dorothy!

It was also brought to my attention the passing of Ruth Hale. I didn’t know her personally but understand she and her husband attended many the car shows around, were well known and very personable. We pass along our deepest sympathies to the family.                                      Birthdays and Anniversaries For March 20093-  2  Ruth Pribble,  3-3  Ila Blackeney,  3- 3  Marian Hinman,  3- 8  Jim Frost,  3- 9 Ron Reed3- 15  Bill Leach,  3- 24  Wally Deck,  3- 26  Robert Warrick,  3- 29  Don Longer3-  2  Brian & Valerie Jordan,  3- 26  Mike & Starla Cummings,  3 -  29 Dave & Joan Sherrill3 -  31 Lloyd & Shirley Spellmeyer Please visit our IAAC website if you are able, Mike has done such a great job of putting it together. http://illianaantiqueautomobileclub.50megs.com/Have a great month, officers; don’t forget we have a meeting at the airport 3-3-09 , 7pm IL time. Theolinda Foster / PublicationsHome- 765-492-3735   Cell 812- 208 1731

                           NOVEMBER 2008 IAAC MOTO-MEETER

The November meeting was opened with President Foster leading in the Pledge of Allegiance. The roll call of officers and the officer’s reports were given. We had our Pizza Party on the 14th and were a bit disappointed at the low number of members. Only 32 members were present but to those that were there  we thank you and we really did have a great time. Plenty of pizza and some terrific side dishes brought in to go along with it. Everyone was stuffed and satisfied and then came the bingo. Myron started off calling and then Keith Brown took over, we all laughed because if you yelled “bingo” Keith or Myron would holler back to go get your prize. The prizes were finally all gone and the evening came to a close, we had 4 pizzas left over and they were auctioned off with the money going back to the club. We realize there are always circumstances beyond our control and are unable to attend a meeting or event but this was the lowest number that I know of in the last 4 years attending our Pizza Party. This is done as a small way of saying thanks for being a member and in appreciation for participating in all its endeavors. Christmas Dinner, Dec 19th !! We will be having the dinner at the Days Hotel, 77 N. Gilbert St., Danville, Il.  At 6 pm Il. time the doors will open and dinner will be at 6:30 Il. We will be in the banquet room upstairs; there is an elevator lift for those in need and rest rooms are on that floor as well. Keith is to be commended for all his running and phone calls to find facilities that are both nice and affordable, believe me, he had his work cut out and spent many hours negotiating to get us the best possible! The menu is Roast beef, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, salad roll, cobbler and drink. Total $19.14 each person, the club will pick up $9.14 and member will pay $10.00 each for two people. Please have your reservations in to Keith or Margaret Brown 217 427 5522 no later than Dec. 15th. 2008Entertainment will be provided by The Rhythm Drifters. They played at  Family Day at Hawthorne Estates and were liked by all so get your reservations in, your appetites wetted and your toe tapping shoes on for a festive night among members and friends plus 50/50  and prize drawing. Four officer positions were open for re-election at the Nov. meeting both vice- president offices, Historian and Show Chairman. Re- elected were Pat Roark for Show Chairman and Charles Harrold for Historian.  Mike Klepp was voted 1st Vice- President and Brian Jordan for 2nd Vice President. They will be inducted at the Christmas party. We are pleased to welcome new members James & Caroline Darby to the IAAC. They reside at 8 Devonshire, Danville, and Il.61834 and are the owners of a 1932 Model A Roadster. Welcome, we hope you are able to take part in the club and its meetings along with getting to know all its members. We all send our thoughts and prayers to you that are ill or grieving, we know of John Cotton, Dr. Ewbank, Ralph Cummings and John Reed who are in need of these at this time. Please let me know if there is anyone else, I don’t want to omit anyone. Mark your calendars for Jan,8th which will be our soup supper! Bring a pot of soup or chili along with a side dish or dessert plus you own serviceware and tableware. The club will provide crackers, coffee, tea and pop. Bingo after the meal so dig out those white elephants again, it is as much fun to see what is put on the prize table as it is to win!! Don’t miss out on this, we always have plenty of some of the best soup you will ever taste and of course a lot of fun!! I f you haven’t checked the IAAC website lately please do, Mike Klepp has done an outstanding job of making it a top notch site with plenty of info and pictures. The address is  http://illianaantiqueautomobileclub.50megs.com/  it also has a classified page where you can buy and sell. Take advantage of this if you have something to advertise or just want to look. Also, if Mike doesn’t have a picture of your car send one to him so it can go on the members car page. Our members have some beautiful vehicles so lets show them off ;o) Several months ago I asked if you would all update me on your cars. I need to know make, style, year etc. to update my record book. I did not hear back from anyone! There has been a lot of buying, trading and selling in the last couple of years I am sure so please, send me the information I need to keep the pages updated. Call, e-mail or send a note to me, I would appreciate it very much.

See you the 19th of Dec. and until then stay happy, well and safe!!

The roll call of officers and the officers reports given. 30 members were in attendance.  I would like to mention the dedication that one of our new members is showing. Bill Leach of Clinton, In. has come to the monthly meetings since joining the club and is taking an active part in it. Thank you Bill, I know it is a hundred mile round trip to attend a meeting and we all appreciate you as a member.   We have so many members that work hard to keep the club going and to make it inviting to those that would like to join us. We need to let everyone know that the club continues to grow and that all the work done to keep it successful is appreciated. Give yourself a round of applause and a pat on the back for your contribution in making it what it is. A great car club! Bill Massey took on the office of publicity last year with the condition that it was for only one year. At the Oct. meeting this was announced and those attending were asked if anyone would take the job over for the remainder of his term. Ernie Jorgenson volunteered; a motion was passed and accepted for him to be Publicity Director for the year 2009. We all thank Ernie and know he will do a fine job.  I received a call from Dr. Bob Ewbank Friday morning and I am pleased to say that although he is not the best he says he is on the road to recovery. This is some of the best news I have had in awhile, Doc, it was sure nice to hear your voice, we all send our continued prayers and best wishes for a full recovery!!  Ed Jameson and Dave Sherrill were asked to audit the books for 2007 & 2008.   We are counting down to our 50th anniversary as the IAAC and we are wanting all club members to participate in this event, one way to help is to start writing down suggestions for a terrific 50th celebration! This is not an everyday occurrence and one that most clubs haven’t or never will experience so put on your thinking caps and get those suggestions coming in. Bring them to a meeting where there will be a suggestion box or send them to an officer. The suggestions must be submitted in writing .This is an event that every member should be proud of so take advantage of what it stands for and participate in its activities. We have 95 members as of the newsletter and an average of 27-35 that attend meetings. We understand that work, sickness, etc. plays a large part of either attending or not but for those of you able, we need you and your input to keep the club running the way you want it to. We hope you enjoy your membership, make new friends and are able to take an active role in the club!

The hit of the evening was Margaret Brown with her new Dell laptop!! She and her niece put together a film showing all the cars displayed at the mall display set to music. It really looked professional and was very much enjoyed, especially by Jim Chittick whose Ford kept time with music as we viewed his car and the cute ending to the film. It was fun and enjoyable with a lot of work putting this together. Thanks Margaret and thank your niece for helping out with the entertainment, we appreciated it so much!!

Ernie Jorgensen brought his best of show trophy from Art On Wheels to display. Ernie said he is happy to be a member of the IAAC.

Rod Suttle was not able to be at the meeting but sent a message to please thank each and every member that was at Lincoln Park in whatever capacity. The show was a success due to all the work done by members and the car owners that came out even though there was the threat of foul weather. Hey Rod, thank you! We wouldn’t have had the show without you and your hard work putting it together. That’s what makes out club special, we work together as a unit understanding that some are not able to help out as much as they would like to and knowing that the slack will be picked up by others. I for one am a very proud member of the IAAC and since our club keeps growing I know that every member feels the same way.

Mary Deck is having cataract surgery on her left eye Aug. 7 and her right eye Aug. 21st.  We heard that Don Pribble needed a bit more surgery and John Cotton is recovering slowly from a stroke. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all! Get well soon!

If anyone is ill or knows of someone, please let me know so we can acknowledge them.

Also, if you have anything related to our club, cars, books, etc. to sell trade or swap, send a note to me and I will be happy to post it in the newsletter. Mike will also post it on the IAAC website. http://illianaantiqueautomobileclub.50megs.com/

MOTO MEET-ER - JUNE 2008

Regular IAAC meeting the 2nd.Tues of each month at the Catlin Community Building.

The June 12th meeting came to order with President Foster leading in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The IAAC would like to welcome Kenneth and Marjorie Birge, 912 Cunningham, Danville, IL. 61832  ( 217-446 1376  ,  2217- 442 7553)  as it’s newest members. The Birge’s have a 1965 Pontiac Conv. We at IAAC  are looking forward to a long and active association with Kenneth and Marjorie.

The Village Mall Members Display on May 15- 18 was a huge success! Thursday evening the 15th, cars were all lined up and ready to enter the mall with rain coming down in buckets!! I wish you could have seen the assembly line, as a car was driving in, members standing with buckets, rags and absorbers were ready to wipe down the vehicle. Every vehicle was wiped down, driven into its parking spot and when all was done there were a lot of smiling faces! I took pictures of these busy bees and they will be at the next IAAC meeting to look at. Don Longer and Myron Foster thank each and every one of those participating in any way for their help in making this display the success it was.

June 21st, mark your calendars! Art on Wheels at Lincoln Park ! This show is put on by the IAAC and spearheaded by Rod Suttle. Last years attendance was down because of inclement weather so we are hoping this year all goes well and as many of you as can, will be there. Rod needs helpers in the following positions on the sign up sheet; A. Help directing show cars where to park. B. Watching the gate (keeping the public from driving in)

C. Registration  D. Set up and hand out door prizes ,  sell 50/50 tickets and help counting ballots. If you can help out please call Rod at 217- 446 8235

This is always a good show ( even in bad weather) with some beautiful cars on display and a chance to renew acquaintances as well as meet new people and admire their cars. We hope you are able to attend  your clubs first show of the year!

All the members would like to extend their thoughts and prayers to IAAC member John Cotton. John had a stroke and although doing well is unable to do some of the things he loves most. We pray for you John that you get back the eyesight needed to do what you love most, working in your machine shop and driving your antique vehicles. If at any time there is anything you need or help in any form please don’t hesitate to pick up your phone and give one (or more) of us a call!

Doug Curley is asking for a volunteer to help him out on occasion with the clubs sound system. If you would like to help out or know more about the system, please call Doug at 217- 442 7535.

For those of you interested, magnetic backs for your members name badges are available at the Tilton Trophy Shop. You can pop the backs off your present badge and put the self adhering magnet on yourself for $1.00 or you can order a new badge with the magnet for $3.50. Wally Deck did bring up a condition about the magnets concerning cell phones not working while the badge is being worn and pace makers.

It doesn’t seem as thought there are as many shows this year as in the past, could be gas prices are causing concern with the show promoters. If you have any show flyers please send the information to our webmaster Mike Klepp

 IAAC MOTO MEET-ER - May 2008

The meeting was called to order with President Foster leading in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The beef and noodle supper was a huge success as always! Wally and Mary are to be commended for their hard work and dedication in support of the IAAC. I helped roll and cut noodles along with Margaret Brown, Shirley Quick and Dora Jameson, unless you have helped do this before, you don’t realize the work involved and Mary had everything ready to go when help showed up. I have made many noodles but I have never seen that many at one time spread out to dry in my life! Wally was right there cutting the noodles along with us and when we got done he and Mary fed us a terrific lunch and relegated some stories from years back. I didn’t realize it could be that much fun and look forward to next April and helping again. Thanks to you both Mary and Wally!!!!

Also special thanks to the following members that were able to go to the Bowman Estates open house and car show May 3rd. It was cold and blustery which I am sure caused many of the residents to stay inside rather than come out to look at the cars. Thanks go out to-  Don Pribble,Phil & Myra Harper, Don Thompson, Mike Lane, Gerald Hinman, John Cotton, Don Longer, Larry Coon, Keith & Margaret Brown, Archie & Nancy Jo Quick, Jim Chittick, Theolinda Foster and Myron Foster. Phil Harpers 1930 Model A was the hit of the show with those residents that braved the cold. Phil took several for rides around the grounds and when they got out the smiles were from ear to ear, Phil’s included!!

The IAAC would like to welcome new members Timothy  & Gena Massey, 28326 Henning Rd., Danville,IL. 61843 . The Massey’s own a 1974 Porsche 914 Coupe that has been restored. We hope you are able to be active and participate in club activities.

The Mall display is next week-end!  We have 32 cars registered, the most we have ever had. Members, we need more of you to sign up for car sitting, if you can possibly donate 3 hours or more ,call Don Longer at 217-446 5328 or Myron Foster at 812-208 6033. The cars are going to be in every part of the mall, the more members we have the better. You must wear your IAAC name tag, if you don’t have one or need one contact, Rod Suttle  at 217- 446 8235. Mall security has assured us they will be vigilant in watching the cars but they cannot be everywhere at once. Don’t forget to have your vehicles at Garfields Restaurant entrance by 8:30 pm Thurs. evening. You will be able to drive your car into the mall.

I have 3 corrections to make in the membership roster. Ila Blakeney instead of Evelyn Blakeney . Ernie Jorgensons phone numbers are 217-442 0886 & 217- 304 0160. I received a note from John Reed with his and Monty’s new telephone number, 217- 339 2291.

If you are in favor of having your MOTO MEET-ER sent by e-mail please let me know. With postage going up, it would be a savings of almost $120.00 a year to send it out to those whose e-mail addresses I have. The MOTO MEET-ER will be posted on the IAAC website also. Call me at 812-208 1731 or 765- 402 3735 or e-mail me at foster1@att.net
